Accessibility Statement

Last reviewed: 25 April 2026 · Next review due: 25 April 2027

Our Commitment

Madonna Ministry is committed to making its website accessible to all users, regardless of disability or the technology they use to access the web. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

1. About This Statement

This accessibility statement applies to the Madonna Ministry website at www.madonnaministry.org.uk.

This website is run by Madonna Ministry. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels, and fonts using your browser or device settings
  • Zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate most of the website using a keyboard only
  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver)

2. How Accessible This Website Is

We know that some parts of this website are not fully accessible. We have carried out an internal accessibility audit against WCAG 2.2 AA criteria and identified the following known issues:

PDF Downloads (Parish Bulletins)

In progress

Parish bulletin PDFs are not currently fully accessible to screen readers as they are generated from a word processor without tagged PDF structure. We are working to address this in future bulletins.

Third-Party Embeds

Monitoring

Embedded content from Google Maps and YouTube may not be fully keyboard-navigable or screen-reader compatible. This is a limitation of those third-party services, though we review alternative approaches regularly.

Historical Photo Gallery

In progress

Not all historical photographs in the gallery have descriptive alt text. We are working through the archive to add appropriate descriptions.

3. Technical Information

Madonna Ministry is committed to making this website accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard, due to the known issues listed above. We are actively working to achieve full compliance.

The website was built using Next.js and Tailwind CSS. We have followed best practices for accessible web development, including semantic HTML, ARIA labels, focus management, and sufficient colour contrast ratios.
