About Madonna Missionaries

Rooted in Christ. Devoted to Our Lady. A welcoming community of faith open to everyone — wherever you are on your journey.

Our Story

A community shaped by faith and time.

Madonna Missionaries was founded by a small group of faithful Catholics who believed that every person — whatever their background, history, or state of life — deserves a place at the table of the Lord. What began as a modest gathering has grown into a flourishing parish community serving hundreds of families across the local area.

Our parish takes its name from the Madonna — the Blessed Virgin Mary — whose example of faith, humility, and total openness to God has inspired Christians across the centuries. She is our patroness, our model, and our intercessor.

Across our history we have celebrated thousands of baptisms, marriages, and funerals. We have welcomed people home after years away, mourned together and rejoiced together. Through it all, the Eucharist has remained our heartbeat.

Mission & Beliefs

Three Pillars of Our Life Together

Everything we do flows from three convictions: faith that is rooted in the fullness of the Catholic tradition, community that is genuine and inclusive, and service that reaches beyond our walls.

Faith

We are anchored in the fullness of the Catholic faith — Scripture, Tradition, and the living Magisterium. Our worship is the source and summit of everything we do as a parish community.

Hope

We hold fast to the hope of the Gospel — that in Christ, every wound can be healed and every door opened. This hope shapes how we welcome, how we grieve, and how we rejoice together.

Service

Love of neighbour is not optional. Our faith compels us outward — into the local community, supporting those in need, and working alongside others for justice and peace.

Our History

A Journey of Faith

Over sixty years, Madonna Missionaries has grown from a small gathering into a thriving parish — shaped by faith, marked by moments of grace, and always moving forward together.

  1. 1962

    Parish Founded

A small group of faithful Catholic families established our first gathered community, meeting in a borrowed hall and holding fast to the Eucharist.

  2. 1975

    Our Church Opens

The current church building was consecrated by the Bishop, giving the community a permanent home and a visible sign of the faith community's commitment.

  3. 1988

    Our Lady's Shrine

A beautiful Marian shrine was added to the church interior, reflecting the community's deep devotion to our patroness and drawing many new visitors.

  4. 2003

    Community Centre Opens

The parish hall was extended to serve a growing community — hosting catechesis, youth groups, charitable programmes, and social gatherings.

  5. 2018

    Renewed Vision

A new mission statement was adopted: to be a parish radically open to all, united in worship, and sent out in service to our neighbours.

Our Patroness

Mary, the Madonna

Our parish is named in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary — the Madonna — whom Catholics venerate as the Mother of God and the model of discipleship. Her quiet “yes” to the angel Gabriel set in motion the salvation of the world.

At Madonna Missionaries, we seek to imitate her humble openness to God's will. We pray the Rosary together, celebrate her feasts with joy, and ask for her intercession in all our needs. She is always drawing us closer to her Son.

Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God.
