About Our Parish

Safeguarding

The safety and wellbeing of every person in our community — especially children, young people, and vulnerable adults — is our highest priority.

Our Commitment

Every person matters. Every person is safe here.

Madonna Ministry is committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for all who come through our doors — and especially for children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Safeguarding is not a bureaucratic exercise; it flows directly from the Gospel imperative to protect those who are least able to protect themselves.

We follow the safeguarding guidelines of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales, as set out in Safeguarding with Confidence: Keeping Children and Adults Safe in the Catholic Church. We work in close partnership with our Diocesan Safeguarding Office and comply with all relevant statutory requirements.

All clergy, staff, and volunteers who work with children or vulnerable adults in our parish have completed appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and have received safeguarding training. We operate a safe recruitment process for all new appointments.

If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child or vulnerable adult — whether that concern relates to someone in our parish community or elsewhere — please report it without delay. You do not need to be certain that abuse has occurred. If something does not feel right, please speak to someone.
