Sacred Journeys

Parish Pilgrimages

Travel together in faith to the great Marian shrines and holy places of the Christian world. Every pilgrimage is a journey inward as well as outward.

At Madonna Ministry, we believe in the ancient Christian practice of pilgrimage — of physically journeying to holy places as an act of faith, prayer, and solidarity with the wider Church. Whether you are travelling as a first-time pilgrim or returning to a beloved shrine, our parish pilgrimages are organised with care, spiritual depth, and a warm community spirit. All pilgrimages are open to non-parishioners — please share the information with friends and family.

Lourdes in the French Pyrenees is one of the world's greatest Marian shrines. In 1858, Our Lady appeared to Bernadette Soubirous eighteen times and revealed a spring of water at the Grotto of Massabielle, which continues to flow today. Millions of pilgrims, many of them sick or suffering, visit each year — and countless healings of body, mind, and soul have been recorded. Our parish joins the diocesan pilgrimage group for seven days of prayer, the baths, the torchlight procession, and Mass at the Grotto.

Pilgrimage Highlights

  • Daily Mass at the Grotto of Our Lady
  • The baths — open to all pilgrims
  • The evening torchlight Marian procession
  • The Stations of the Cross on the hillside
  • Blessed Sacrament procession and healing service

How to Book

We travel with the diocesan pilgrimage, so places are co-ordinated through the diocese. Please contact the parish office no later than 28 February 2026. A passport valid for six months beyond the date of return is required.

In 1879, at the gable wall of the parish church in Knock, County Mayo, fifteen witnesses saw an apparition of Our Lady, Saint Joseph, Saint John the Evangelist, and the Lamb of God. The apparition was silent — no message was given — and yet Knock has become one of the most visited Marian shrines in the world, drawing over one and a half million pilgrims each year. The atmosphere is deeply prayerful, peaceful, and gentle — a place of encounter with the mystery of God.

Pilgrimage Highlights

  • The Apparition Gable — site of the 1879 vision
  • The Basilica of Our Lady, Queen of Ireland
  • The Anointing Chapel
  • The outdoor Way of the Cross
  • Evening Rosary Procession with torchlight

How to Book

Flights from regional airports are available. Please contact the parish office to join our group and benefit from shared transfer arrangements. The Knock Shrine itself offers excellent accommodation recommendations on their website.
