Every week during term time

Parish Library
Get in Touch

Our Tuesday Bible Study group has been meeting for over fifteen years and remains one of the most beloved gatherings in the community. Each week we read a passage of Scripture together, discuss its meaning in its historical and theological context, and reflect on what it says to our lives today. No previous biblical knowledge is required — only a willingness to engage with God's Word and with one another. We follow a structured study guide, usually working through one book of the Bible per term. A pot of tea is always provided.

What to Expect

  • Approximately 10–18 participants each session
  • Guided scripture study using published study notes
  • Time for questions and open discussion
  • Closing prayer together
  • New members can join at any point in the term

Open To

All parishioners and their friends. All faith backgrounds welcome.

Lady Chapel
Get in Touch

The Wednesday Rosary Group meets in the Lady Chapel for a quiet, meditative praying of the Holy Rosary. This thirty-minute gathering takes place immediately after the 9:00 am weekday Mass and provides a natural extension of the morning's prayer. Participants meditate on the mysteries of the Rosary in a gentle and unhurried atmosphere. The group welcomes those who are new to the Rosary as well as those who have prayed it for decades. Rosary booklets are available for those who need them.

What to Expect

  • Quiet, meditative atmosphere in the Lady Chapel
  • Praying of the Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, or Luminous Mysteries in rotation
  • Led by a regular group member on a rota basis
  • Approximately 8–15 participants
  • Rosary booklets available for newcomers

Every Saturday (term time and holidays)

Meeting Room 1
Get in Touch

Mothers' Prayers is a gentle, prayerful gathering for mothers of all ages who wish to pray together for their children, their families, and for one another. The group was founded on the conviction that when mothers pray together, something remarkable happens — burdens are shared, faith is deepened, and peace is renewed. Sessions include a short time of praise and worship, guided intercession for children and families, and an opportunity for personal prayer. Children under walking age are welcome to attend with their mothers.

What to Expect

  • Informal and warm atmosphere
  • Time for praise, intercession, and personal prayer
  • Sharing of prayer intentions (always confidential)
  • Tea and fellowship afterwards
  • Babies in arms welcome

Open To

All mothers — Catholic or not, regular churchgoers or not. No commitment required.

Get in Touch

The Men's Group provides a space for men in the community to come together for fellowship, honest conversation, and spiritual growth. Each gathering begins with a simple shared supper, followed by a guest speaker or group discussion on a topic chosen by the members — which might be anything from a Scripture passage to a contemporary moral question to a personal testimony of faith. The group has become a strong brotherhood of men who support one another in their daily lives and in their faith.

What to Expect

  • Simple shared supper provided
  • Guest speaker or group discussion
  • Topics vary — faith, family, culture, current affairs
  • Closing prayer
  • A genuinely welcoming, non-judgmental atmosphere

Open To

Men of all ages and all points on the faith journey — including those with questions.

Senior Lunch Club

Last Friday of Each Month

12:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Monthly (most months throughout the year)

Parish Hall
Get in Touch

The Senior Lunch Club brings together older parishioners for a hot two-course lunch, lively conversation, and warm fellowship. The lunch is prepared each month by a volunteer rota of parishioners and is offered at a suggested contribution of £5 to cover costs. We know that isolation can be a real difficulty for older people, and this group has made a real difference to the lives of many parishioners who have found friendship and belonging here. A short prayer is said before the meal, and there is often music or entertainment afterwards.

What to Expect

  • Hot two-course lunch (vegetarian option always available)
  • Friendly company and warm conversation
  • A short prayer of thanks before the meal
  • Occasional entertainment — music, talks, quizzes
  • Transport can often be arranged for those without cars — ask when booking

Open To

Older parishioners and their friends. A suggested contribution of £5 per person.

The Madonna Missionaries Parish Choir enhances the Sunday Masses, feast days, and special celebrations throughout the liturgical year. The choir sings a repertoire ranging from traditional plainchant and polyphony to contemporary liturgical music. Under the direction of our Music Director, practice takes place every Thursday evening. New members — especially tenors and basses — are warmly welcomed. No formal audition is required, though members should be able to read music or be willing to learn. Being part of the choir is both a ministry of service and a genuine joy.

What to Expect

  • Conducted rehearsal of the Sunday music repertoire
  • A mix of polyphony, hymnody, and modern liturgical music
  • Full choir Mass every Sunday at 11:00 am
  • Special music for Christmas, Easter, and major feast days
  • Social events during the year

Open To

Adults who can sing in tune. Prior experience of choral singing helpful but not essential. New singers assessed informally at first practice.
